underglow...

this is the last project of winter term 09 for sculpture II... the purpose of this project was to incorporate some of the artists work that we've been reading in our book in our last project.... i decided to play off of dan flavin's work and how he uses neon lights in his projects...i chose to use green lights on the bottom of the cars because in dan's statement he said that the green light is so brilliant and bright that it almost looks white, which i thought was interesting.. i also thought that because the lights are not permanent and they will eventually burn out was interesting also because the work itself is presented as a monument of an eternal memory... i also chose to put mirrors on the bottom of the cars because it's interesting to see both perspectives of the top of the car and the bottom, also because the black light itself makes you see things differently and is also like an illusion itself the mirrors i thought add to that effect....

this is guy...

this is a narrative project i did in photography II last year. and the point of this project was to have a narrative story by taking just pictures. so i decided to do a lego man and he's holding a fishing pole and the bait is a heart. so my narrative part to this project would be that the lego man has his bait on the fishing pole and he's fishing for his love and putting his heart out there for someone to find it and catch it. this was one of my favorite projects because it was playful but yet got the message across.

dragon tails...

this is a project i made in ceramics last quarter, and it's made out of straws. it consists of approximately 15+ boxes of 100 straws in each box. it is glue together with a hot glue stick, however if i were to do this project again i would use a different type of glue so it doesn't show the glue strings that occur after the glue dries. i used a variation of drinking straws (colored straws) and coffee straws (black). it took about 2 weeks of 4 hours a day working on this project to complete it, but at the end project it was well worth it.

a fish made out of......... pencil!

this is a sculpture i made last quarter in sculpting. i was going for a feel of it being a pufferfish since a pufferfish does indeed looks like this when it puffs up. it consist of nearly 3,000 pencil tips. it was a long process but it became very successful.
